1. About this policy
MtotoSmart is a digital learning app that provides primary-school learners with educational content and activities, which may include text, illustrations, audio, animation, interactive exercises and learning assessments. This Privacy Policy explains how the publisher identified above (“MtotoSmart”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares and protects information when a person uses the MtotoSmart app or contacts us about it.
MtotoSmart is designed for children and families. We aim to collect only information reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve the learning service. Parents and legal guardians should review this policy with their children. If the app’s actual features or service providers change, we will update this policy and the relevant app-store privacy disclosures.
2. Information we may collect
The information actually collected depends on the features enabled in the version you use. Before publication, the publisher must verify each category below against the app and its SDKs.
2.1 Registration and learner profiles
MtotoSmart does not require learners or parents to create an account or register to access the learning lessons. The app should not request a learner’s name, email address, login credentials or other account details for ordinary lesson access. If a future version adds registration, profiles or sign-in, this policy and the app-store privacy disclosures must be updated before that feature is released.
2.2 Learning activity and progress
If learning progress, quizzes or test mode are enabled, we may process answers, scores, accuracy, completion status, time taken, lesson history and related learning progress so the app can provide feedback and display progress. We use this information for educational functionality and service support, not to create advertising profiles of children.
2.3 Technical and diagnostic information
The app or its service providers may receive limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as app version, operating system version, crash reports, performance diagnostics, security events and basic network information. Whether device identifiers, IP addresses or analytics events are collected depends on the SDKs and server configuration actually used. The publisher must list and disclose any such collection accurately in the Apple App Privacy and Google Play Data safety forms.
2.4 Purchases and subscriptions
If a subscription is offered, payment is processed by the relevant app store or payment provider. We may receive transaction receipts, product identifiers, subscription status, renewal/expiry information or a purchase-related identifier needed to validate access and provide customer support. We do not receive or store full payment-card details processed by Apple or Google unless a separate payment flow explicitly collects them. Store account, billing and refund details are also subject to the relevant store’s policies.
2.5 Messages to support
If a parent, guardian or user contacts us, we process the contact details and message content they choose to provide in order to respond, investigate a problem and maintain support records. Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information about a child.
2.6 Audio, camera, photos, location and other sensitive permissions
The app should not access a device microphone, camera, photos, contacts or precise location unless a specific feature genuinely requires it and the required permission and disclosure are presented. If any such feature is included, this policy must be revised to explain exactly what is accessed, when, why, whether it leaves the device, and how long it is kept. Do not leave this section unchanged if the app uses voice recognition, recording, image upload or similar functionality.
3. How we use information
Provide educational lessons, animations, exercises, assessments and learning-progress features.
Maintain learner or parent accounts, where supported, and remember settings or progress.
Verify subscriptions or purchases and provide access to paid features.
Respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy changes.
Detect errors, prevent fraud or misuse, secure the app and maintain reliability.
Meet applicable legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell children’s personal information. MtotoSmart should not use children’s personal information for targeted or behavioural advertising. Any analytics or diagnostics used in a child-directed version must be reviewed for compliance with Apple’s Kids Category rules and Google Play Families requirements.
4. Children’s privacy and parental involvement
MtotoSmart is intended for primary-school learners. We seek to minimise the personal information collected from children and do not knowingly ask children to provide more information than is needed for the educational service. Where applicable law requires verifiable parental consent before collecting a child’s personal information, we will obtain that consent before the relevant collection.
Features that open external websites, contact the developer, initiate a purchase or otherwise take a child outside the learning experience must be protected by an effective parental gate where required by the platform rules. A parental gate is not a substitute for legally required parental consent to collect personal information. The gate must not be bypassable or disabled by a child. Parents or guardians may contact us to ask what information is associated with a child and to request correction or deletion, subject to applicable law.
5. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information only where necessary with:
Hosting, database, authentication, security and technical-support providers that operate the service for us.
Apple or Google and their billing systems to process or validate app-store purchases and subscriptions.
Analytics, crash-reporting, AI, speech/audio or other SDK providers only if they are actually integrated and needed for an enabled feature.
Professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement authorities or other parties where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.
Before release, the publisher must identify every third-party SDK and service, review its terms and child-directed-service suitability, and confirm what data it receives. Service providers must be contractually or otherwise appropriately required to protect information and use it only for permitted purposes. If the app is submitted to Apple’s Kids Category, review especially carefully whether any third-party analytics or other SDK transmits identifiable or device information.
6. International transfers
Our publisher is based in Tanzania. Our service providers may process information in other countries. Where information is transferred across borders, we will take steps required by applicable law to protect it. Insert the actual countries or regions of material processing where required, and ensure contracts and safeguards are in place for relevant providers.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, maintaining learning progress, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose. The publisher must establish and document actual retention periods for accounts, child profiles, learning records, diagnostic logs, support messages and purchase records.
A parent, guardian or eligible user may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing info@mtotosmart.com with the subject “MtotoSmart Privacy Request”. Because the app does not require account creation, a request may relate to learning progress, support correspondence, diagnostics or other information actually processed by the app or its service providers. We may ask for reasonable information to verify the requester’s authority without requesting unnecessary information about the child. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Some records may need to be retained where legally required or for legitimate security, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes.
MtotoSmart does not require account creation, so an account-deletion pathway is not applicable to the current no-registration version. However, requests to delete other personal information will be handled through the contact method above, subject to applicable law. If account creation is introduced in a future version, the app and website must be updated to provide the account-deletion mechanisms required by Google Play and applicable law.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. Measures should include access controls, secure transmission, appropriate credential handling, limited staff access, updates and secure configuration of databases and third-party services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you or a child’s parent/guardian may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, or complain to a relevant authority. To exercise a right, contact us at info@mtotosmart.com. Withdrawing consent may mean that a feature requiring the information can no longer be provided.
10. External links and third-party services
The app may provide links to external services only where those links are part of the released app. External services are governed by their own privacy policies and practices. For a child-directed app, access to external links must be placed behind a compliant parental gate where required. We encourage parents and guardians to review third-party services before allowing children to use them.
Subscriptions and use of the service are governed by the separate MtotoSmart Terms of Use, where applicable. The Terms of Use do not replace this Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to MtotoSmart, our data practices or legal requirements. We will publish the updated policy at the same public URL and update the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before implementing material changes.
